Cocoa and Raw Cacao: The beasts of all superfoods!

chocolate vegan wellness lab

Cocoa. Once considered a gift of the gods, it’s been consumed with passion since the discovery of the cocoa bean by the Maya civilisation in Central America.

Rich in essential vitamin and minerals like: calcium, copper, iron, magnesium, manganese, phosphorus, potassium and zinc! Not to mention the instant mood boost when we think of or see chocolate in any shape or form. Just saying the word makes some of us reach for the cupboard!

WHY IS IT SO HEALTHY? AND WHY IS IT A SUPERFOOD?

Cacao is one of the highest sources of magnesium in nature, full of antioxidants, calcium, zinc, copper and selenium. Cacao contains more antioxidants per gram than blueberries, goji berries, red wine, raisins, prunes and even pomegranates.

It's is also a rich source of antioxidants for our heart and contains neurotransmitters which contribute to wellbeing and happiness.

Cocoa powder is made by crushing cocoa beans and removing the fat or cocoa butter.

Cocoa is one of the richest sources of polyphenols. It’s especially abundant in flavanols, which have potent antioxidant and anti-inflammatory effects.

They have been linked to numerous health benefits, including reduced inflammation, better blood flow, lower blood pressure and improved cholesterol and blood sugar levels.

Our vegan Hot Chocolate, Chocolate Milkshake and Cocoa Collagen, all contain Cocoa and Raw Cacao at a high level. They can be used to make hot chocolate, chocolate latte, chocolate milkshake and in baked goods like muffins, pancakes etc.
